At first, New York City police thought they had nabbed merely a pothead, not an alleged double-murderer. On Sunday night, hours after a Pennsylvania carjacking ended in rape and fatal gunfire, the man wanted in that case was charged in New York with possession of a small amount of marijuana.

The murder suspect, who is being held without bail, has been charged with larceny and escape in New York. The extradition hearing is set for June 17.
