Backus Middle School Reviews

This school is in serious trouble. The teachers cannot teach because the children are so poorly behaved. There are some extremely good teachers and some extremely bad. Also, the work there is not challenging to the average student.

This school need some serious improvements. It is so disruptive in the classroom, which makes it hard for the teacher to teach the kids that are there to learn. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

I attended Backus in 2000-2002. I admit, I did not learn anything but math. Everything I learned in middle school was no help when I got to high school. EVERYTHING I learned my freshman year in high school was VERY NEW. And all my teachers said, 'You should have learned that in middle school.' And just to let everyone know, I am not the type of student that plays around then at the end of school plays catch up. I do my work right- then-and -there. I almost forgot, I learned how to play the clarinet. So if you want your child to learn how to play instruments and learn math, then this is the school for your your child.

Parent of 6th grade student. First year attending DC Public School. School does not offer any academically challenging courses for my child.
