Hyde Elementary School Reviews

My child has attended the school since First grade, this is her fourth year, overall I am very pleased with the school 1-3 grade results, The fourth grade year has fallen flat due to lack of clear direction and communication issues as well as the teachers not having enough support to properly implement the standards. I am sure things will get better as the school grows accustomed to its new leadership, but unfortunately it is to late for its current years students.

A gem of a school in a great neighborhood. Lots of individual attention and terrific, experienced teachers. Among the highest test scores in the city. As a recognized leader in academic excellence, Hyde is a demonstration school for the Reading & Writing Project (DCPS Master Plan). Very diverse student body with an active and involved PTA. The in-boundary enrollment is increasing as more young families move back to Georgetown and discover this excellent little red schoolhouse literally in their own backyards. I went to Hyde in the late 60s and my son is now attending. We love it!

Hyde is a rare gem in public schools. Since there is only one class per grade with one exception, I feel that everyone at the school personally knows my child. Hyde now has an excellent PE teacher who also puts on dances/shows for kids on Friday nights periodically throughout the year. A wonderful diverse school!!!!

Hyde has a strong arts program but there is a weak science program and absolutly no PE or PE teacher. Its a nice small school but unfortuneately, there are not many extras in the curriculum. I am a current parent at Hyde and my eldest children went to Hyde but only went for a few years. Hyde isn't the worst school, but it is not my number one reccomendation and does not meet my standards of a truely great school.

Wonderful school, excellent teachers and an amazing atmosphere. Kids do well academically (at least the motivated ones) and have a lot of fun. Multiracial, multicultural and with most parents really involved. Can't praise it enough!

Hyde is the best. Thats all there is to say. I'm not a parent I'm a student. I've gone to Hyde for 7 years but now I'm at Hardy. My years at Hyde have been the best years ever. The educaion is great and the people in the school, parents students and facilty are just like a big family because everyone knows eachother and thats one of the best thing about a school.
