Hardy MM at Hamilton School Reviews

I am a 6th grader H.M.S. is great. not all schools have art, music, computer math, softball,majorettes,bands(jazz,orchestra,marching).Mr. pope is great. he knows all students by name, makes sure we have feild trips and fun. the teachers are great.

If you are thinking of sending your child to Hardy, please talk to a range of parents about Mr. Pope, the principal. Ask whether he listens to or respects parents' input, what his policies are for running the school, what the rules are and how they are formulated, how he imposes discipline and why, and whether the teachers feel comfortable disagreeing with him or standing up to him. There are much better alternatives around.

I have two daughters in Hardy MS, and for the most part, it has been a terrific academic and social experience. Almost every teacher is excellent, and Principal Patrick Pope is amazing in recruiting and retaining top notch staff, and getting them to work as teams. Many DC students are not adequately prepared when they enter Hardy, but the program works hard to bring them up to and beyond grade level. All but the most gifted students are challenged as well, and there are plenty of opportunities for 'stretching' their leadership. Until the renovated building opens for the 2008/9 school year, the facilities are mediocre, but safe. There are insufficient extra-curricular activities, but blame that on DC funding. Discipline is always a challenge with middle-schoolers, but Mr. Pope uses a strict (some might say heavy) hand in encouraging the kids to become responsible for themselves and their behavior. We're happy there!

I am an eight grader at Hardy Middle School, I have been here since the sixth grade, this school is very good and one of the best middle schools in Washington DC, everyone gets along and there is a lot of things students can get into after school. If you are looking for a middle school for your child I would highly recommend Hardy.

I am a parent of a current 6th grader and a graduate of Hardy Middle School. I have only great remarks about the principal, teachers and administration of this school. I have seen the dedication and commitment that the principal has and know that the teachers are caring, involved and committed. In a time when we all question the quality and effectiveness of schools - Hardy Middle School stands out and gets an A.

Hardy Middle School is a very great school in many ways. It has great academic programs and fabulous teachers. The 6th grade teachers have all been wonderful and they help the students understand more about everything. I am currently a 6th grader going on 7th and I love everything about Hardy M.S. There is a spectacular music program which performs city-wide. Each student has a choice of doing band or chorus. It has a variety of different sports such as football, vollyball, baseball, basketball, and track. We have a play each year and this past year we performed The Wiz. Also each student gets a choice of either learning French or Spanish. Hardy Middle school is a great place to learn.

I am at this time a seventh grader at Hardy Middle school. In my opinion I think my school has a wonderful learning atmosphere. Our teachers here at hardy teach to the best of their abilities. In addition to academic excellence there is also a choice of a second language, either french or spanish.{I recommend spanish} and either a instrumental or choral music course. There is also many events throughout the school year which give the student a opportunity to showcase their newly found talents. Theatrical arts is not a main course at Hardy, but there is an annual spring musical performed. Try outs are held during the winter months after school for all who are interested. There is also many extracurricular activities to chose from, such as Basketball, football, and volleyball for males and females. Also with the remodeling of the school in January hardy is a great school.

I am in sixth grade at Hardy.I think it is good and our grades are high and its interacial. we have kids from Africa,Peru,China,Korea, etc. the only problem is that we have too much problems with other schools.

I am a sixth grader at Hardy. That girl is lying to yall .The teachers at hardy are great and hardworking . Hey,girl ...have u ever thought that the problem was maybe hmm..the STUDENTS! DUH! The teachers have nothing to do with the violence . Hardy has excelling kids AND teachers and it is one of the best top three middle skools in dc,along with Deal and Jefferson .Try it and youll love it ,I promise you!

This school is a fun atmospherewere the teachers act like friends. Unfortunately, student are not able to work at their potential at this school. A straight a student can easily fall t c's d's and f's. Drugs, violents, and lack of structure make this school a big problem. I would like to add that not all of the teachers are so bad. Mr. Dunn, Ms. Brown, Mr. Chisolm, and the art teacher are some of the teachers that are helping the school. I am saying this as a former student. I am 13 and since have left Hardy. If you would like your children in an invironment like this, then send them to Hardy. You'll regret it.

My daughter is now an 8th grader at Hardy. She came there for 6th grade. My son graduated from there last year after only being there for 8th grade. I feel that my children learned a lot and were exposed to children from different parts of the world. I feel the teachers really take an interest in the kids and will go that extra mile to help any kid who needs it.
