Description

Guided bike tour of York, inside and outside the city walls.  Starting at a central location in the city.  A 2 to 2.5 hour tour with multiple stops to hear the stories of the saints and sinners, the good and the evil, from Romans and Vikings to the sweetness of chocolate makers.  Although factual, your guide will tell the grisly tales in a lighthearted way.  The route is planned for safety and the best stopping view points and is mainly on quiet roads or designated cycle paths.

We start at the Gillygate pub (rear of), which is a city centre pub and an easy location to find.  From here we kit you out with a suitable bike and helmet, introduction to the safety features and the route.  We set off at a gentle pace and the first of our 8 to 10 stops is in the most historic part of the city.  From here, after a short stretch on the road we travel on mainly riverside paths and gardens and looping back into the old part of town.  We touch on tales of villains and heroes and the rise and fall of both.  The tours start at 10.30 daily with additional tours at 2pm (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) from 6th April 2018.  Full directions and map can be seen at this link:  http://www.yorkcyclingtours.com/map
